2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel price and specs
There’s a powerful new diesel engine in town for the next Ram 1500. It’s a 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel engine that will provide loads of power and make this pickup truck even more capable than its stellar reputation already suggests. Ram has recently revealed some key information about the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel price and specs, so let’s dive right in.
Pricing and power
The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will start at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $36,890 with an additional $1,695 for the destination fee. This starting price is for the Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD model, and it is essentially a $4,995 option or a $3,000 premium over the 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 eTorque engine. This new engine is going to be available across the entire lineup of Ram 1500 models, even the Ram Rebel!
This is the third generation of the turbocharged EcoDiesel V-6 engine. When inside the 2020 Ram 1500, this beast can produce a best-in-class 480 lb-ft of torque, which is an increase in torque of 14 percent over the previous version of this engine. The horsepower rating has been increased as well, to 260, which is an eight percent increase over the previous generation of the EcoDiesel engine.
What’s new with this engine?
The engine is capable of more power due to a number of updates. A new water-cooled turbocharger with variable geometry is now more efficient with a better response. Intake ports have been redesigned to help with fuel economy and the engine’s performance. The compression ratio has been updated from 16.5:1 to 16.0:1 to reduce emissions from the exhaust. There’s also a first for any diesel engine in North America, and that’s a dual, high-pressure and low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system. And that’s just to name a few of these upgrades!
The 2020 Ram 1500 will go on sale later in 2019.
