The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most exciting and beloved SUVs out there and has been wowing drivers for decades now. It embodies a lot of what people consider to be a classic SUV with its style, shape, size, and capabilities, and the next model year promises to carry on this tradition. What’s new on the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Let’s review some of the upgrades.
2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee models and engine specs
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup will include seven models: Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. As you may have heard previously, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the fastest and most powerful SUV ever. Yes, ever. That model can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph, all powered by a mighty supercharged V-8 engine that generates an astonishing 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine will be no slouch either; it’s a Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 that doles out 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The SRT will come equipped with a 6.4-liter V-8 with Fuel Saver Technology that can produce 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Whichever Grand Cherokee strikes your interest, you’ll be sure to have a powerful beating heart under the hood.
2020 model year highlights
A few key changes will come with the 2020 Grand Cherokee lineup. The Laredo, Limited, and Trailhawk varieties will feature a new premium lighting group that includes bi-xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, signature daytime running lights, LED fog lamps, and auto high-beam headlamps. If you want to open things up a bit more with a sunroof, you’ll be pleased to know that the Limited and Trailhawk models offer a single-pane sunroof as a standard feature. The Trackhawk will now feature available 20-inch Titanium Aluminum wheels and finish, as well as a Signature Leather-Wrapped Interior Package that comes in Black or Ski Gray.
Safety is also key, so the Jeep Active Safety Group will now be available on the Grand Cherokee Laredo. This group of safety features includes Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Advanced Brake Assist, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus, and auto high-beam headlights.
