How do I know whether to repair or replace my windshield? Consider three factors:
- Size: Chips larger than three quarters of inch and cracks more than 3 inches long require windshield replacement.
- Location: Cracks that splinter to the edge of the windshield typically require replacement due to their tendency to spread. Chips or cracks directly in your line of vision will certainly require replacement as well.
- Time span: Leaving chips and cracks unaddressed will allow the dirt to build up making it difficult to perform a successful repair, requiring a full replacement.
