2020 Ford F-250/F-350/F-450 Super Duty Towing and Payload Capacities

One of the many reasons why drivers choose the Ford F-Series trucks is because they are so strong and durable. While you can get enough power to transport a few horses or market-ready steers with the best-selling Ford F-150, sometimes we need something a little stronger to pull even heavier loads. Luckily, there are the Super Duty models: the F-250, the F-350, and the F-450.

Engine Power for the 2020 Ford Super Duty Trucks

2020 Ford F-250

Max. Towing Capacity: 15,800 to 22,800 pounds
Max. Payload Capacity: 3,040 to 4,260 pounds

2020 Ford F-350

Max. Towing Capacity: 16,600 to 23,300 pounds
Max. Payload Capacity: 3,160 to 7,850 pounds

2020 Ford F-450

Max. Towing Capacity: 16,700 to 35,750 pounds
Max. Payload Capacity: 5,320 to 6,210 pounds

Please note that the actual towing capacity and payload of your 2020 Ford Super Duty truck will vary due to your chosen engine, the cab size, the length of the bed, whether 2WD or 4WD is being used, the axle ratio, and if you are using conventional, gooseneck, or fifth-wheel towing methods.

We would also like to note that your trailer’s tongue weight should be 10% of the total weight of your loaded trailer (15% for fifth-wheel towing).

How Many Head of Cattle Can I Transport with the 2020 Ford Super Duty Trucks?

Since we are located in the Dairy State, it is not uncommon for us to see Ford Super Duty trucks loaded with cattle to either the local fair or to market. A fully-loaded 20-foot gooseneck-style livestock trailer will weigh about 5,000 pounds when empty and about 14,000 pounds when fully loaded with four to five head of cattle. This means you can easily get a larger trailer and transport even more livestock when you choose a model like the F-350 or F-450!

Of course, you will want to keep in mind the size and weight of your cattle. A Holstein heifer will be around 800 pounds, while a market-ready Angus steer can top the scales at more than 1,800 pounds.
